The Off Leash Dog Park is open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., unless otherwise posted or advertised.
The City of Greater Sudbury reserves the right to close the park without notice, as needed for emergencies, maintenance and repairs.
The park was officially opened on Sunday, September 30, 2012 and is currently the only dog park in the City of Greater Sudbury. It can be very busy, in particular in the early morning and evening. Over 100 dogs usually visit over the course of the day, even in the wintertime. In ideal weather conditions on a weekend, it is not unusual to see counts of over 300 dogs over the day.
The park contains two fenced enclosures, one enclosure for small dogs and one enclosure for large breeds.
Small Dog Enclosure
This enclosure is reserved exclusively for dogs that are 15 inches or less from the shoulder and less than 25 lbs. The enclosure is 100 x 60 meters with a 4 foot high fence. It is the first enclosure at the park entrance and a sign designates that it is for small dogs only.
Large Dog Enclosure
This enclosure is for dogs that are 15 inches or taller from the shoulder and more than 25 lbs. The enclosure is larger at 120 x 60 meters with a 5 foot high fence. It is situated at the far end of the park and can be reached via the pathway to the right of the small dog enclosure.
Both enclosures have a double-gated entry/exit system. To enter an enclosure, walk your leashed dog through the first gate into the entrance enclosure and close that gate behind you. Unleash your dog and then open the second gate that leads into the dog park. The double gates ensure that any dogs near the gates cannot escape the park as you enter. It also permits you to safely leash and unleash your dog when you enter or leave the enclosure.
Why two separate enclosures?
Small dogs can be intimidated or accidentally hurt by large dogs. Some larger dogs may also have issues with smaller dogs. Two enclosures ensure the safety and comfort of all dogs and dog owners. Please respect these guidelines.
Waste bins are provided by the City of Greater Sudbury for the disposal of waste, including dog feces. Recycling is also available for water bottles and other recyclables. Mutt Mitts are provided by the City for users free of charge. Park volunteers regularly restock garbage bags and mitts.
A porta-potty is located at the entrance of the park just off the parking lot.
