Brief History

The D.O.G.S. Committee began in January 2010 as a grassroots organization to advocate for the creation of the city’s first dog park in Minnow Lake.  From February to May 2010, the committee did its research about the various off-leash dog parks in Ontario, consulted with municipal leaders and city staff, conducted a survey of Minnow Lake Residents and produced a final report for City of Greater Sudbury.  It presented its finding in June 2010 to the planning committee of the City of Greater Sudbury.  At the end of that meeting the City Staff have been directed to work with the D.O.G.S. Committee to research the issue and prepare the necessary material to go before the next city budget meeting scheduled in late fall.
